Gold Medalist visits Row New Jersey

Row New Jersey Olympic Gold Takeover!

Row New Jersey's staff  set out to inspire when an Olympic Gold Medalist, Lindsay Shoop was invited to  guest-coach take-over  girl’s practice on Tuesday evening. The energy and engagement were palpable as Lindsay shared her experience competing at the highest levels of the sport.

The Row New Jersey girls had the opportunity to learn from Lindsay’s Olympic training and conditioning techniques, as she worked with the team to help them improve their stroke, movement, and efficiency on the water. This was a unique opportunity for the team to receive new insights and techniques from a truly exceptional rower and coach.

Lindsay started her rowing career in the spring semester of her junior year at the University of Virginia. She was a three-time World Champion in the Women’s eights of 2006, 2007 & 2009. Her crowning achievement was the 2008 Summer Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the two-seat of the women's eight. This win was the first U.S. Rowing Olympic Gold in 24 years.

“Row New Jersey is grateful for the time Ms. Shoop spent with the girl’s team,” said Jennifer Kilroy, Board Vice President and mother of both a girl’s and middle-school team rower. “She gave the girls tangible skills to help take their rowing to the next level, and inspired them to envision a future in rowing.”
