Donate and Support Row New Jersey

2020 Row New Jersey Fundraising Campaign

Row New Jersey is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation devoted to developing the strength, character and confidence of middle school and high school students as well as masters rowers, through the discipline and teamwork of rowing.

Our team’s continued success is built not only by the commitment of our athletes and coaching staff but by the support of our families and individuals like you that have so generously gifted to Row New Jersey year after year.

Every member benefits from the opportunity to row in shells, to be coached by a staff equipped with launches, to leverage the use of oars and erg machines and compete through the delivery of shells on trailers that have been acquired through the sustained fundraising and the generosity of our team members, families, individuals, members of our Lake Hopatcong community and board members.

Our 2020 fundraising goal is $47,000. This will enable the team to fully fund the new pairs / doubles and additional oars required for these boats.  Our current investment priorities are aligned to both our short and longer term needs.  In the short term, these shells will be used to enable practice and racing under various social distancing scenarios for all three of our programs. They can also be adapted for double sculling racing opportunities for both our Middle School and Masters programs where sculling is a more prominent option.

2020 Donation Matching

We are so pleased to announce that for every dollar that you donate between now and November 1st, 2020  it will be matched by the generous support of select Row New Jersey board members.

Fundraising FAQ

Is Row New Jersey a non-profit?  Yes.  Row New Jersey is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation devoted to developing the strength, character and confidence of middle school and high school students as well as masters rowers, through the discipline and teamwork of rowing.

I paid tuition, doesn’t that cover the cost of equipment? No. Tuition funds the  day to day operating needs including investments in coaches (all of whom are paid professionals - two are full time), boathouse and vehicle leases, equipment maintenance (truck, trailer and launch registration as well as launch, shell and oar repairs), gasoline for launches, cleaning supplies, insurances, regatta and racing fees as well as meals / food for the racing teams at weekend regattas.  Fall 2020 Tuition was deeply discounted as we have reduced opportunities for regatta racing this fall.

Is my donation tax deductible? Yes.  Row New Jersey is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization as recognized by the IRS.  No goods or services, in whole or in part, are received in exchange for your contribution; therefore the full value of your contribution is deductible for income tax purposes.  Please retain a copy of your email receipt for your tax records.

What will my donation be used for? Rowing Equipment.

How much does Rowing Equipment actually cost?  Great question!  Rowing equipment varies in price depending upon manufacturer, materials used and quantities purchased.  For example – the shells that we currently use 8+ 4+ 2x 1 x range in price from over $40K to $10K.  The oars range between $750 and $500 each while new coxswain boxes run approx $1K.  Riggers, seats, shoes and all of the other working parts in a boat vary from $50 to $500 to buy, maintain or replace.

Does Row New Jersey receive 100% of my donation? If you make your contribution online/electronically there is a small fee for the use of the bank and software platform.  online processing fees of (3.29% + $1.00) per payment will not affect the total of your contribution. Row New Jersey will collect the contribution total minus fees. For example, if the donation is $100.00 and the fees are $3.00, the amount charged will be $100.00 and Row New Jersey  will collect $97.00.

Can I give Row New Jersey a check for my donation instead of using the online platform?  Yes, you can donate with a check made payable to ROW NEW JERSEY and mail to our PO BOX.  Please do not send a check in to practice with your athlete.
